  • media player in win98; want to uninstall at registry level

Been having problems playing mpg or avi (also wmv files have no audio); pretty sure linked to me installing NIMO codec pack. Everything screwed up at system level when i did and uninstalling Windows Media9 and reinstalling it does not help; along with latest DirectX installing just not helping.

I do not feel like reinstalling WIn98 - so does anyone know how I can fool/tweak the registry into thinking that no Media player is installed so when i try to really intall WM player it will be like a "clean" install. I'm sure there is junk floating in the registry screwing things up.

    Thanks!

if it's the directshow filters in the nimo pack that are causing the problem, then do a
regsvr32 /u 'codecname' for all codecs it installed.

    Example:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\regsvr32 /u divx32ac.ax
would uninstall the 'divx 3.11 alpha' codec directshow filter on a windows xp pc.

Perhaps regsvr32 might have a slightly different name for Win9x, you figure out the details.
