  • Will my G400MAX EXPLODE IF I OVERCLOCK IT???

    Hi,

I have decided to run my ASUS P2B-DS (REV 1.06 D03 w/ Yellow Sticker [if this means anything to you!]) @ a 133MHZ FSB setting. From what I have read, my PCI bus will still run @ 33MHZ (hopefully, otherwise, it will run @ 45MHZ - which would be BAD), but the AGP bus will be bumped up to 89MHZ. How will my Matrox G400MAX run at an AGP bus speed of 89MHZ, as opposed to 66MHZ. My G400MAX is a later version, with a 4x support (I forgot the serial #). Incidentally, how will the new Parhelia 650/750 do in an AGP2x port, running @ 89MHZ instead of 66MHZ. I would imagine that it should be more stable, since it is a TRUE 4X board.

    Let me know!

    Thanks,

    -V-

Most G400s handle an overclocked FSB fine. Shouldn't be a prob.

P650/750 will not run on that board. They are 1.5v/0.8v (4x/8x) ONLY cards. That's why I had to upgrade my old P3B-F, P2B and P3B mobos are 3.3v only.

      I second that G400's tolerate AGP@89 fine.

what about the Parhelia 128M and 256M - are they also AGP 4x/8x only, and not 2x?

        Thanks,

I just checked, the P650/750 also support AGP 2x

Parhelia also didn't explode on 89MHz AGP.
