    Seems the DVD+ format is finally showing its superiority.

      Nice Drive !!!!!

      I have always liked plextor drives and have never had any problems with them...to bad i just purchased the sony drx510ul external drive for my system or i would be online ordering this drive tonight!!!

      what size is the buffer? my sony has an 8 MB buffer.

        Looking at the spec pdf, it appears to have a 2MB buffer.

          IMO buffer sizes don't really matter anymore know that every drive has buffer protection.

            Plextor is using NEC mechanisms, which I find to be near the best in the business. People might make a case for the Pioneer devices, but I find the NEC's to be quite nice.

            This drive is based on a newer version of the NEC 1300A DVD dual-format burner, IIRC.

                  Also supports DVD+MRW (short for DVD+RW Mt. Rainier) !
                  2 years warranty (in Europe) !

                      Hmm, the DVD+VR is also interesting... Anybody now of it ? (they claim 100% compatibility with DVD-Video, for use in regular DVD players)
