the pros/cons of capturing at 1056x720?

Just wondering if upping the resolution on captures will make the slightest bit of difference in quality.. y'know, going to virtual dub and choosing custom settings, etc.
HD space, speed and CPU power is not an issue. probably be using PICvideo (I just discovered it.. THANKS DOC!!)

No, not really. Capturing at a higher rez than the boards maximum stated setting only does realtime scaling.

The only use I've found for this feature is to capture SVCD's 480x480 format in realtime using YUY2 + HuffYUV on a Marvel. It takes some CPU horsepower to do this effectively and is only really useful as a novelty. TMPGEnc does a better job of scaling and maintaining quality using full frame captures.
