  • Wireless Networking Help (with VOIP)

    Hi all,

I've been given the task of coming up with some designs for implementing a Wireless LAN across our new offices later in the year. This wireless LAN will initially/primarily be for Voice (with VOIP), but also if security is good enough, data.

Any recommendations on which standards to use (might as well go 54Mbps, so 802.11a or g), and which kit? Personally I've used all sorts (Belkin, Netgear, no name stuff etc), but for use in the enterprise, I guess maybe something more 'professional' (like Nokia or Cisco)?

The Wireless is just a bonus really - not mission critical, and Data will only be used as and when someone has a wireless laptop and no available ethernet connection for example - not for the primary network link.

VOIP traffic is small, and 11mbps will do easily if that proves the most reliable.

I realise I need to do a site survey, but I can't yet

    Ta for any input folks
