  • Economy - Zimbabwean style

This from a Zimbabwean farmer :

"This is becoming a really interesting place. The only country in the world where your largest bank note - $500 - can't buy you a beer, which costs $650.

A roll of single ply toilet paper costs $1000. There are approximately 72 sections on the average roll, so it is cheaper to take your $1000 bank note, change it into $10 notes, wipe your arse on 72 of them and still get $280 change.

Nah they just need to kick a few more white farmers off the land shoot them murder them. Let everyone starve and if Britain and Austrilia bring it up at the commonwealth call them racist and try and get them thrown out.

        ROFL.

        Sounds like pre-WW2 Germany.

A wheelbarrow full of Deutschmarks wouldn't buy a loaf of bread. And we wonder why they all followed Hitler.

Except that they had the character to pull themselves out of that mess.

There is no way in the world that I would live in that country. Why don't those white farmers just leave?

Its not only the white farmers..........its everybody.

They do not have enough physical paper money in the banks to pay salaries when guys pitch at the bank to draw their hard-earned money - they are limited to something like $5000 (Zim) per day - not even enough to buy a food for the family for the day!

Government says they have not printed money during the last about 18 months, and there is no plans to get the presses running either - they are not able to pay for the paper or the ink should they try. Bartering is the "in thing", and those that have a few notes hang on to them at all costs - "just in-case"....

At the same time my damn country/government (South africa) and closest relatively advanced country, is taking a really shit-faced stance and are refusing to condemn the government for letting the country go the the pigs (literally!).

Our fuel and electricity can be bought cheaper there than what we can do inside our own country.

I can remember one of Magarbis (Spelt wrong) thugs being interviewed.
The guy didn't have an idea on how to farm and all the crops were dieing. So he asked the deposed white farmer for help. Of course the farmer stuck two fingers up at him and refused to help.
Yes maybe the land should go back, but you've got too know how to farm it. By killing or driving the farmers off is the way to ruin. Yes they are starving.

That's nothing. Look at this 500.000.000 Reichsmark bank note from 1923.

I just found that on 15.2.1924 the Reichsbank issued a 100.000.000.000.000 bank note!

Problem is that the dimwit government are not able to appreciate what it is they are doing to the country, and are also not even able to print such a serious denomination - even if they wanted to.

Some of those farmers forced to leave says that the "warriors" have even taken to pulling all of the implements on the farm around the house, dowsing it in fuel together with all of the dry fodder atc they are not allowed to remove (the farmers may not take anything other than their clothes and personal belongings and often even nothing!) and setting it alight because they don't want what the "Whites" have produced.

Now exactly how stupid are you actually and to what lengths will you go to prove your erm.......... ****wittedness

they did? I thought the growth was based on credits from foreign countries, which lead to more troubles some years later...

I wouldn't exactly call jumping on the Nazi bandwagon and following Hitler into Hell a display of "character."

no, he is right - germany did flourish for some time in the twenties, even before we sent them hitler.

Indeed. Aside from the industrious (english?) mindset, sound economic policies (by the socialist government at the time) stopped hyperinflation and, after a brief period (less than one year) of high unemployment, got industry and agriculture back on track again.

The economic crisis op the early 30's (started in 29) was something the socialists could not deal with (no one could).
