  • Okay Xedit for Redhat 9.0

Xedit seems to have been removed for this distro. I need Xedit to edit files on a unix box. Is there a different programme to do this or is there a well hidden xedit somewhere on the internet.

Redhat is running the latest version of Xfree but strangley xedit isn't there. Most of the other stuff is but not that.

Did you install the XFree86-tools RPM?

Well when I slap the cd in and claims that the rpm is already installed. Theres a lot of X stuff installed, everything but the kitchen sink and Xedit.

Reinstall it, just to be sure.

Didn't like that crashed out and now the autoupdate has disappeared.

Forced the rpm install. The update is now back after a reboot. Checking RH website theres no mention of xedit for version 9 only for the earlier versions. Odd since it's an industry standard.

If you're absolutley certain xedit isn't installed, you can get it from ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4....x-ix86-glibc23

The file you need is Xbin.tgz.

Remember to create a directory to unarchive it into, as it won't make one itself.
