  • Distorted sound with MPEG capture

I am trying to capture 352x288 (PAL) using MSP Video Capture and the sound is distorted. Using MPEG VFW Capture Plug-in. I have tried all audio options (ie. mono, stereo, frequency, etc). The sound levels don't seem to improve it either.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix it?

I have a PIII-500Mhz with FIC KA-11 Motherboard (built in SB PCI-128 audio) running 256MB Ram. Capture drive 30MB, Application drive 17MB.

    IMHO:

VIA chipset + <600mhz CPU + PCI audio (especially if ISA emulation is turned on) + software encoding = poor results.

      Doc

What do you mean by ISA emulation? Are you referring to enabling audio in 'DOS' mode? Is there a way to disable it?

The other 'reasons' I don't have any control of at the moment.

Yes, ISA emulation on a PCI audio system is to provide DOS support. Usually this can be disabled either in the setups program provided with the audio drivers OR by disabing it in the Device Manager, which is how the SBLive handles it.

This will free up lots of resources and, most often, an IRQ and DMA channel as well.
