    Funny thread from usenet:

    "Leroy":
    "Hi all
    I have been lurking in this group, picking all your brains,as I am
    completely new to digital camcorders.
    Unfortunately before I really got started I fell into the canal with my
    Canon MV530i.I managed to retrieve it from the bottom and have sent it back,
    luckily it is covered by a five year coverplan.
    My question is , will they be able to repair it?If so should I accept I? as
    I'm sure it's life span will be greatly reduced.
    Basically I want to pre arm myself with some details,as I never have much
    luck with insurance,and just in case they try to fob me off.
    any help would be appreciated
    Thanks Leroy

    I think they will give you a new camera no questions asked insurances
    are pretty good on things like this. You may have to pay an excess
    though, depending on your insurance contract.

    "Leroy":
    Thanks for your input guys
    Just got the camera back from canon with a letter stating Not economical to
    repair.
    Checked with coverplan, and am covered.Looks like a new camera,yippee.
    Bye the way SkiJumpToes, I was in a motorised wheel chair when I went in,so
    hope that gives you an extra chuckle!my wife nearly wet herself with
    laughter and then knocked the mother in-laws Yorkshire terrier in while
    getting me out.It was a definite £250 pound You've been framed shot.

    "Paul":
    Sounds like a right hoot!

    Its good that you will get a new camera, but what about your motorised
    wheelchair? Did you get it out......was it also badly damaged...I only
    ask because I know they don't come cheap.

    "Ian":
    Definitely one of those "that was funny" moments - afterwards, when
    nothing too bad happened.

    My version of that was some years ago when my wife went out with her
    horse to ride round the local canal. I (jokingly) told her to be sure not
    to fall in. Half an hour later she appeared back soaked. Someone had
    been reading a newspaper out of sight by one of the bridges, and
    happened to turn the page just as the horse came under the bridge.

    The horse jumped sideways straight into the canal. My wife said one
    really scary bit was opening her eyes underwater and seeing the horse's
    hooves thrash past her head. She then finished up climbing out one side,
    and saw the horse had scrambled out the other, so she had to squelch
    her way up the banking to the bridge and over to catch it.

    Yes, please let us know how the wheelchair fared.

    "Leroy":
    Thanks Guys
    The chair was fine, it hit a front wheel rut and i caterpalted
    straight in.Nice to see this is such a friendly group,i will be back
    as soon as i get my new camera,Hopefully they won't have the MV530i as
    it was on offer and has been superceeded.May get a better one :-)
