                It is very rare, and they usually catch it by the time the child hits puberty. I know someone that had it. What they pulled out was ... gross.

                    It is certainly rare with a viable child: in most cases, there is spontaneous abortion at 3 - 4 months. PM exams of aborted foetuses often reveal all sorts of abnormalities, including this. Nature's way of correcting mistakes. I'd guess that a number are also still-born.
