  • Now i´m really pissed...

Enter the matrix - got a message that says NO FULLSCREEN MODE AVAILABLE - really sad... well i know that my system is old (g200 mystique and rainbow runner-G) but, what tha fu** !!! I use the video card to work and it only works with a matrox graphic card, and besides, some games really runs slowly BUT THEY RUN - this is my first game that refuses to run, so if i want to play, have to buy and install another video card... arghs - the game system requirements advises nVidia - and i´m really thinking in send matrox to hell, since they stopped to support older cards - and a patch is out of question.
Maybe some of u is thinking now - hey man - upgrade that and buy parhelia... SURE NOT! Why? well technology doesn´t advanced too much in the past 2 years, so to sell products, they find a way to "block" us from using what we have - example? give matrox guys one year and u will start to "begging" for support like g200 and rainbow runner users do... really sucks... some time ago i wanted to use rr with windows 2k because some network needs - well have tryed everthing in posts on matrox sites and it never worked, and lots of others things that doesn´t matter to talk that really makes me change to something diferent... well certainly a cheaper soluction WITH A BETTER SUPPORT. Well if any lucky g200 owner knows how to play enter the matrix it would be nice to know - ahhh - before some of u think in nonsense and contact infogrames, i already done it, and they told me to contact matrox

Tks guys for wasting ur time reading this

To matrox, well if u don´t support a old technology - RELEASE ALL TECH INFO to users

It's a directx9 game. There are no DirectX9 drivers for the card. The game uses DX9. See here. The game says it supports the Radeon 8500 and Geforce 2 256. The best and only bet if you can risk it on a "work" machine is to grab the latest drivers if you do not have them already and upgrade to at least Directx8.1b. You really should have DirectX9. That alone is the most likely reason for the error. Even if you do get the game to work, it will be terribly slow because of the advanced graphics effects.

You're first post and you're already going off. It's best to start off calm.

Also, the supported cards are 32MB. Your card is 8 or 16mb at best.

You cannot expect ANY card that old to support a current generation game. If you where to try other makers cards from that same era, you would find that they also won't cut it.
Your expectaions of getting Matrox to make this card work with this game are beyond unrealistic.

Howdy again. Well, the speed isnot the problem since the game engine was the same that max paine and it really runs fast enough - well - at least the game could start - and about directX - i tried with 8.1 and then 9 that comes with the game and it passed all the tests but says that the driver isnot supported :/ - The last microsoft driver tested was the 4.something - and it was too old.
Well, isn´t enough 16mb at 640x480 !? Can´t remember where i read but it was something about matrox mb equivalent to 2xmb because the type of memory i think... If g200 handles mafia game (well sometimes a little slow) - can´t suport matrix?
But this is not the first problem - that´s why i´m thinking in changing... and leave one of the best EVER capture card - rainbow runner (ohh isn´t no longer supported, and still one of the best...) that´s why.

            Kruzin:
1- I tried already the game with a Riva tnt 16mb and no problems found yet. Same generation. I think its just a driver matter.
2- Can´t expect matrox to support my card for 50 years, but both know that matrox support less than the warranty they give...

Nope. ETM isn't all that well coded, and the textures are enough to soak up 3x your video RAM.

It is jot the same exact engine as Max payne. According to your reasoning, anything that runs the original Unreal should run UT2003. It doesn't work that way. Engines are improved. Developers make changes. Even two developers that use the same engine version make changes that can make their two games different. You're just plain lucky that it worked with the TNT.

Matrox does support their card to run the software it was intended for and some it was not originally designed for. They cannot use their mystical powers to forsee the future and make a chip or driver for every game especially two generations later.

I agree completely. The G200 was never a good gamers card to begin with ... to even try to run Enter the Matrix with that card sounds rather foolish to me (sorry). Let the old man die in peace

Well, the only reason why the game doesn´t run is because Tnl - mystique g200 doesn´t support by hardware but can be emulated!!! (and the dx9 driver sure, and about this i can´t do anything). I agree with all, and i know better than u that this card is a oldie - but what tha hell!!! I´m not a extreme gamer and until now all the games have run, some slowly, but they run. This is my manifesto and if u buy a car, u shouldn´t stop to drive it because they don´t produce the fuel anymore...

It is still going to look crap Get a new graphics card tbh m8.. the G200 is useless for any of today's games. The Matrix game already looks crap enough but with everything turned off and emulated it you managed to get it working that is, it will be almost unplayable imo.

Bah! When it first came out, it was a great card. I used it forever, and since I hate FPS, the OpenGL issue meant nothing to me. I prefered it to the Tnt and TnT2. :d

That's because with any resolution above 800x600 on the TNT cards looked like crap! The G200 had such a nice crisp display. But then again, there were tons of GL issues back then with every card, though granted the G200 was supposed to ship with GL drivers, and it didn't come 'til MUCH later.... but that's for an entire different thread...

As far as Enter the Matrix goes. It runs quite fast on my Parhelia, I would never even dream of trying to run it on something as old as a G200, you need hardware TnL, not any software emulated crap.

I had switched from a TNT2 to a G200 cause my chipset for my Super Socket 7 board wouldn't work with it, I was sure glad to see the G200 FLY on that board.

Well, my "oldie" g200 and rainbow runner are for my first personal user of the computer... Video editing. Since my greatest game is chess, and i still play it in the internet and other chess programs, for sure i will not surrender to fps nightmare - i will not change my video card ehehe. G200 still rOx for me. Unless they decide to make chessmaster Kings, Queens, blabla in a fuc**ng 3d Tnl needed game
