  • Parhelia and Photoshop = artifacts

Dear Users of Photoshop 6/7 and Parhelia, please check this tutorial:

    New image, for example 800x600
    - Filter > Render > Clouds
    - Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast...
    *(Brightness = +70)
    *(Contrast = 0)
    - Filter > Stylize > Extrude...
    *(Type = Pyramids)
    *(Size = 20 pixels)
    *(Depth = 255 Random)
    *(Mask Incomplete Blocks = unchecked)

    My PC:

    ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (BIOS 1004)
    AthlonXP 1700+ (non OC)
    1xCorsair 256, PC2700
Parhelia 128 MB with latest BIOS
    Windows XP + SP1 + .NET 1.0
    Parhelia drivers 1.04.02.007 (latest WHQL)

BTW, Parhelia works with standard fan. I do not see any defects in other applications and on the desktop.
I have got this problem with all of the previous Matrox drivers.

    Please help...

I think it might be wise to also post this on the Matrox tech support forum, to make them aware of the problem, in case they aren't yet (which might well be, because they actually advertise P for use with PS, they'd want it to work flawlessly, I think).

There's an Opera in my macbook.

I guess this is a Photoshop problem Flith.

I get the same behaviour with Photoshop 6.0 (Geforce or Parhelia).
      Main: Dual Xeon LV2.4Ghz@3.1Ghz | 3X21" | NVidia 6800 | 2Gb DDR | SCSI
      Second: Dual PIII 1GHz | 21" Monitor | G200MMS + Quadro 2 Pro | 512MB ECC SDRAM | SCSI
      Third: Apple G4 450Mhz | 21" Monitor | Radeon 8500 | 1,5Gb SDRAM | SCSI

Just checked this on my machine at work (Millennium I on NT 4.0) and it does the same - this is NOT a Parhelia problem.

        Regards,

        John.

          Big thx Fellows

I have checked this on computer with ATi Radeon. Result - the same problem.
Uff... I will write to Adobe about this. I'm glad, because it is not a defect of video cards.

          Best Regards,

Matrox G400 and Millennium I PCI same.

Who uses extrude -> pyramids anyway.

IMO the 255 is to high for extrude, do you get artifacts with lowever values of extrude as well?

WRT to Adobe: those corny filters were acquired when Adobe bought some company.

Since they include them only for the sake of users who use brightness/contrast instead of levels, curves and selective color mojo and they're really old, I doubt they'll optimize or correct them

                Hi,

                @UtwigMU
I used 255 for test only. Value = 100 is good. No artifacts.
