Ok friends, i've just installed it on Win 2K, obviously the winnt ver, and in dxdiag all drivers are FINAL. Vtools beta works with it and seems improve performance.
Now i'm downloading the Win 9X ver and i suppose also it is final because is the same ver number (180).
In june 2000 i installed another rel of it but dxdiag gave me a lot of beta driver with yellow triangle, now NO BETA and yellow triangles.

The only thing with these DX8 Betas is that they seem to get slower (in 3D) with each new release.
The first DX8 Beta I installed, 140 I think, was the same speed-wise as DX7 in both 2k and 98SE, may be a tiny bit slower but it was within the error-range between different measurements.
The next Beta then WAS reproduceable slower than the old DX7, and the new Release Candidate (183 RC0) versions seem again a bit slower (for instance 3DMark scores went down from ~3100 to ~2900, other things are slower as well).

On the good side I didn't notice ANY instability or negative side effects of the betas - until the last, the release candidate. Since I installed the Win2k version (Win98 is fine) of the 183RC0 DX8 3DMark just quits to the desktop at the end - all the tests are running correctly but at the end where the result-screen should be appearing, the program is simply terminated. Anyone noticed this as well?

Maybe Microsoft introduced a few bugs to the final versions to make it a real M$ program and get it out of Beta status

Yes, these are the latest betas ver 183, however for who want continue to "fighting" with Win 2K is a good idea to install them, with my Marvel g400 performances are better.
Notice: in Win 2k the drivers are marked final , but they are betas, moving data direct draw give expired message.
