  • How to get the console?

After I installed the matrox driver for my Parhelia I no longer can switch to console with ctrl+alt+F*. The screen goes black and the monitor says: Out of scan range.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
    I'm using Mandrake 9.1

    And another question:
Anbody here with a nforce2 based MB that got the agpgart to work?

For the first question, you'll need to get rid of the Frame Buffer load up. To do so you have to edit your /etc/lilo.conf and take out the vga=794 that is in the kernel boot section. Well, it's something like that. it's almost 1am here and I'm tired as hell, so can't remember exactly. But it is due to the high-resolution text that Mandrake 9.1 boots up at default. The MTX driver doesn't like it.

      You are right
After I posted this thread I went in to linux again and saw this vga=794. After a bit of reading changed it to vga=ask. So I found one mode that works, but the fonts looks really ugly....
      Thanks anyway for answering

No problem, I'm surprised I remembered it actually It pissed me off too, 'cause I liked the high-res console, but I guess Matrox still needs to work on their drivers.
