Hmmm. I was wondering if this was still happening. What is the O.S. supposed to be suited for anyway?

P.S. This should probably be in the Alternative Lifestyles Forum.

Amiga was the original computer capable of editing video effectively, and it still can outperform Windows in this regard in many ways.

The original systems could multitask effectively with as little as 1.5 megs of RAM and a 7 mhz CPU and still export video with stereo audio. With an addon box (some very inexpensive) it could also genlock its output over a live video feed for titling etc. This alone sold a lot of them and even today genlocks are expensive gear for PC's.

If you took an Amiga up to 20 megs of RAM, installed some SCSI HDD's and an accelerator card with a 20 mhz CPU you had a real racehorse.

Also: the first video editing card capable of doing things previously only possible with studio gear came from the Amiga universe: the NewTek Video Toaster, which floored everyone. I still use two of these and in some ways it's still superior to most of todays editing rigs.

Blah, nobody needs Amiga Inc. for this.

                OS4 progress

Hmm.... The most recent screenshots seem to show that this OS has progressed quite nicely.

I wonder how soon it will be upto XP level in funtionality.

We need alternatives like this to get away from Microsofts grip. The only thing lacking is enough developers.

Well to break Microsofts hold you need the following.

                  1) Ease of use

                  2) Large Driver support.

                  3) Gui interface that works see point one.

                  4) Full office compatabilty.

Points one, two and three is where Linux is failing although it's improving.

                    Re: OS4 progress

Wow... I am very impressed, it seems to be very flexible in every aspect. Just wish it would work w i386...
