  • TV Out aspect ratio discrepancy in MSP7 between instant play and HQ play

I have recently noticed that when previewing a NTSC DV project to TV via my Matrox g450eTV that the aspect ratio is correct when using HQ playback or by scrubbing from the timeline. The aspect ratio is squashed vertically, however, when using the instant play feature.

Has anyone noticed this and is there a setting to remedy it?
I am using nonsquare pixel rendering in my project and playback settings and have noticed this also occurs when NOT selecting nonsquare in the playback dialog.

It is strange that this does not occur when scrubbing from the timeline. One would think that instant play and scrubbing from the timeline would use the same rendering engine.

    Marc,

I know it will sound obvious, but since I had the same problem with my G400 DH, it might help you. I started having the problem after having reinstalled my video drivers. I turned out to be one of the Matrox DVDMax parameters, nothing to do with MSP7. I can't remember exactly which one (working from a laptop right now), but it shouldn't be too difficult since I think there's 3 or 4 boxes to check on the DVDMax page.

      Fred,

Thanks. Yes, I selected "scale to full screen" and that took care of it.

There must be something different about the HQ and instant playback streams created by MSP7 for the Matrox card to react differently to each them.
