its been a few years, but, if you cannot find any talk about this in the archives from about 2 years ago, then I think it may have been a bout 2 releases prior to the very last release. It seems to me, about that time, someone blabbed, Matrox caught wind, and changed the code. Somone else might want to back me up. it been a couple years since al that happened. Do a good search, it was all over the news and forums back then.

    Good Luck.

For Win98 I use PD 5.41 and VT 1.52. No other combo seems to work for me. I use the Macrovision patch available here.

For WinXP, check this. Also look over the threads from the past 30 days or so.

So, it is best to use the specific Display Driver that matches the Video Tools version, as shown on the Matrox Web Site? For example on this page:

Matrox says for the 1.54 version of the video tools (1.54.040), you should use the 5.55 display driver (5.55.022)

They also say for the 1.52 version of the video tools (1.52.033), you should use the 5.41 display driver (5.41.008).

Are these combos the ones that you should use?

Particularly given the two Macrovision removal patches shown on the following page:

for the 1.54 and 1.52 versions of the Video Tools?

          Thank you very much.

Is the macrovision detection built into the Video Tools package or the drivers package?

Am I right in assuming that if you just install any version of the drivers package (without Video Tools) you will be able to capture in VirtualDub or AVI_IO etc without running into any macrovision problems?

I assume it is in Video Tools.

I can't capture without installing Video Tools, so....

Oh. I thought that VirtualDub would only need the drivers to be present.

There are 2 parts to the card - the drivers for the actual graphics chip and the video tools, which enables the video capturing part of the hardware, I do believe.
