JUst watched it last night. I'll probably get slated for this. But at the end in the lake what was that thing in the water meant to be?

Is there going to be a sequel?

I read up it on a web page about the comic book apperance and the background on it...needless to say it was really crazy what they did..then again it is a comic book lol :p

Well, Singer is going to have to handle it a bit differently. He has thus far staunchly avoided the "alternate universes" and "aliens" and "mystical powers" aspects of the X-Men, which have plagued it since ... forever ... and frankly I applaud him for that.

The one word answer to the original question is...

PHOENIX.

Ok, in the course of digging up those pictures I was reminded of why I stopped reading X-Men in the first place. I stuck my head into the bookstore and picked up one of their voluminous "X-Men Ultimate Compendium" tomes, and was astonished at how little ground they cover in 1000 pages... what with aliens, alternate realities, killing off/resurrecting every goddamned character a dozen times...

I'll stick with my imperfect recollection of the series' high points, since actually re-reading it is miserable work.

Yeah, i bet my recollection of the X-Men series is far rosier than the "Real" stuff...

But oh well, i still love them. The movie was AWESOME!

10 mins into the movie i turned on using duct tape to keep my jaw from hitting the floor repeatedly.

Nightcrawler alone could force you to do that. Great implementation of his powers.....

i want to see this.

i hear it was better than the first.

is that so?

Very much so. :)

But then again. I'm biased. Anna Paquin... :: drool :: :p :)

if that was your reasoning then what did she do different than the first?

show less clothes?

ZokesPro

I liked it cause they actually showed wolverine fighting like he should be! And overall there's way more action. :)

Um... Yes? :)

But no, I was - *ahem*, AM an avid X-Men reader since X-Men 1. So even if X2 panned. I would still be biased.

Anna Paquin was just the icing on top. :)

Other than that, I and many others (non X-Men readers) loved it.

Ok, so maybe his fighting skills still aren't like they are in the comics, but at least it's an improvement from the first flic. :)

Very true. But then.... nah. I'm not one to throw spoilers when someone around hasn't watched it. :)

Just saw the movie yesterday, it was alot better than the first one, which was a decent movie to start with. Plenty of *snick*AAHHHHH*snick* action, and some nice, old fashioned gruesome deaths. :D

It is a good thing Magneto never figures out that water (and many other things too) is diamagnetic, I.E. that it is repelled by magnetic fields. I've seen videos of experiments where they levitated live insects and small frogs without harm by using a very strong magnetic field in a tube. And I didn't think it was very likely that Prof. X would walk (err, roll) so easily into a trap like he did.

Technoid

Well, it all depends :)
"Old" Magneto wasn't nearly as powerful (about the same lvls as in the movies) before he was turned into a child by Mutant Alpha and later Aged to his prime by Erik the Red (an alias he later used him self :p )
But after that he got strong enough to defeat (the then inhibited) Phoenix, stand up to being hit repeatedly in the face by Collosus :)

The action was good, but one bit was a bit "SUSS".

When the pyro lets loose on all the cops...they come out a bit blackened, not the chared corpses they should have been ;)

The way that fire was burning, it was more concussive than immolating. They were generally knocked clear of the flames.

Hey, he's a young Pyro - he'll get better at it later.

Yup; Pyro will make them look like they fried in a gas tanker fire soon enough :D
