A redeeming experience for the P

Well that is rewarding.

I tried the Unreal2 demo on my P.

To enable 1280x1024 w/FAA made it a very enjoyable experience. I think it must be some decent coding to get the experience up to snuff.

In some of the open areas I experience less of a slowdown on P than with my GeForce4, but with good rendering quality.

It's these very few instances where the P shows what you paid for it. There's hope after all.........

Well I had the same experiences when I had a geforce and moved on to the Parhelia.

a lot of people wrongly put parhelia down, turn faa on and the latest games will be in myopinion way better that GF4xxx, however radeon 9700+ really do kick it for performance. parhelia still performs nicely for my liking though as my monitor will not go above 1280*1024 anyway.

Resolution limit is why I think the Parhelia chipset in a gaming console would ROCK!. Could you imagine playing a game at TV resolutions on a big screen TV now, and seeing all those nasty 'jaggies'. I know how it looks, 'cause my brother has a 55" wide screen TV that he plays his playstation 2 on. But if that had FAA it would look SO much better. Since most TV's will only do 640x480 anyhow, that would be a great feature for gaming consoles.

9700 rocks in performance

But the P's FAA puts the 9700 to shame.

The only reason a person can say the 9700 beats Parhelia in IQ is because of anisotropic filtering.

The Parhelia just cannot do it acceptably. But the FAA puts every other solution to shame.
