  • Anyone got a '99 model LCD screened Digital8?

I need a manual scanned in JPEG format. The DCR-TRV510 I got at a pawn shop did not have its manual. I'm assuming that the functions between cameras are similar, the closer you get to model TRV510. So if you've got a 510, woohoo! If you've got a 310, great! If you've got any other model with a swing-out LCD, alright! If you've got a TR7000 or whatever, beggars can't be choosers...

Yeah, burglars often forget to grab the manuals when they run off with people's stuff.

Don't take offence Silly, I'm not chastising you personally. I don't know what Houston is like, but there are an awful lot of pawn shops here in Vancouver. Unfortunately, many (if not most) of these places are no more than fencing operations, paying a few bucks for expensive equipment stolen by an seemingly endless stream of drugged out scum bags.

Sorry to intrude on your thread Silly, but I just had my house broken into last month... (And they stole my camcorder but not the manual.)

      Was it a manual for a TRV510?

        Just a question:
I remember that Sony had the manuals somewhere on their site...

I own TRV110, but PAL version.
The difference between 110 and 510 is in the LCD screen size and, probably, memory stick on 510.
Unfortunately, my Russian manual cannot help you much

              No not yet...

I looked for one at the Sony site but to no avail. They seem to be proud of their ability to shrug off last year's exploits.

The Sony part number for the manual is 3-866-124-11. This is the DCR-TRV510 US manual. It should be $15 to $20. Any sony repair shop can order it for you. I know Circuit city will special order it for you at any of the stores.

$15-20!!! Unless its very different with lots more technical details that the manual that came with my TR7000 NTSC there is little chance it'll be worth it IMHO!

For what little is in there, they should let you download a PDF file.

Having the owners manual is important. You don't know the number of people who send their camcorders in for repair because they didn't read the owners manual and turned on/off some feature. I just shake my head when people pay $30 just to have me photo copy a page from the manual and send it back with their camcorder. The price is a guess based on the dealer cost and how much various places will mark it up to cover S&H.
