  • NT 4.0 buffs empty desktop ???

Just looked an NT 4.0 workstation. Everything works fine if you're an Administrator. If you create an account without admin rights and then logon you get a mouse cursor nothing else. The mouse moves okay and the only thing you can do is bring up the task manager which reports the same processes running as there would be under Admin.
Checking the start up etc reveals no special programs launching.
I tried power user and the same thing.
I checked Microsoft Knowledge base and found what looks like a relevant article but that refers to IE4 or ERD problem. In fact IE5.5 is installed and theres been no restoring of the registry or IE as far as I'm aware. One day it worked apparently the next it didn't.
    Any ideas?

I presume you mean for programs launching. Got a little proggy that does that. Only one odd program disabled that and still no differance.

        What's the shell?

Can you manually start Explorer.exe from task manager (File->New task) under User profile?

Haven't tried that but I'll pass it on.
