  • Mobo to go with AMD XP2400+?

I'm VERY tempted to get me an XP2400+ this sunday as they are going for ~£100 now.

Please recommend a modestly priced (<£70) mobo to go with it.

    TIA

    Tony.

    any nForce2 board really.
ASUS do the A7N8X (non deluxe) for pretty cheap, well not really.

I am VERY happy with my nForce2 board, it is VERY fast.

Dual channel DDR is a must tho...

EPoX 8RDA+. About the same price as the Asus non-Deluxe but still equipped with the better MCP-T southbridge - thus including "Soundstorm" and Firewire functionality.

My vote goes either to the Epox 8RDA+ as mentioned or MSI's K7N2-L.

The plan is to retire the CPU & mobo from system 2. Any ideas?

Just got me a nice pay rise, backdated 6 months. My work system (P4-2.4GHz etc) makes my home system feel slow, so now's my chance

              Happy Friday!

I've just checked out your suggestions and they are coming out at about ~£90-100. I also realise I forgot to say I would prefer an SIS based solution - or is that old-hat now? I'd like to get CPU, mobo and mem for £200 if poss.

                Thanks again.

Well, for SIS you'll have to wait for the Iwill K7S2...

I found the EPoX 8RDA+ for 119€ here, that would be ~£80.
Is hardware in the UK really that much more expensive?

You can get the MSI and ASROCK boards in the UK. I was supposed to have got a 2400+, ASROCK K7S8X and 512MB DDR but they didn't deliver so I cancelled. 87 quid before vat for the 2400+ 45 for the mobo and 38 for the RAM

I think I may change my mind and go for a Barton 2500+ (and possibly for an o/c to 2800+). With that in mind are there any preferences for a mobo?

Scan are doing the retail Barton 2500+, 256MB of PC2700 and a mem cooler for £167.73. That means I would be going over my £200 budget whatever I get.

                            TIA
