  • Highpoint 370 based Raid Card any good?

    Hi,
    Does anyone use this type of card for video editing? The Promise Fasttrak having audio noise while using any size which higher than
    1k when using VIA based chipset mobo.

    Does the Highpoint based IDE raid card also
    have this kind of problem with VIA mobo? I
    really want to change my Mobo. The BX based mobo can't offically support 133Mhz. But I tried the Abit SE6. Everything seem fine only
    the sound is out of sync. May be the Audio97
    codec problem. Also does anyone using on board Audio97 codec related to 'Out of sync' problem? Thanks

    You're getting the cause/effect backwards. The VIA chipsets are the proximate cause of most of these problems because of their lower bus performance.

    BTW: BX cards can handle 133mhz without O/C'ing the PCI bus. The BX chipset will automatically downshift to a 1/4 PCI multipler. That only leaves you O/C'ing the AGP a tad. Info on this at Toms Hardware;

    http://www.tomshardware.com

    That said Toms Hardware has also now given it's approval to the i815 chipset as the BX sucessor, so you have that option too.

      Only the newest (last six months or so) BX boards will do 133 and pci at 1/4. Most of them will only do 1/3.
