  • Lets have a chess championship

Ok even though I suck at chess. I played chess at most 10 times in my life but I think it would be interesting to have a championship of some sorts. If you have some other game to suggest be my quest. Multiplayer games that require anything better than a G200 are also exlcuded

The winner could get an official designation in the Forum, of course with Ant's permision.

I think a violent game would be nice. We could form groups, Eurowits and Bushies and kick each other ass.

    BTW
    WAKE UP DAMN IT

Hmm yeah only isn't there a good p2p chess proggy? MS thoughtlessly fails to include one with Windows XP.

Core Wars is a simulation of a war... inside the memory banks of a fictitious computer.

This computer has a rather simple machine code, and you write "programs" in its assembly language that fight each other, steal each other's cycles, and generally attempt to dominate the "core".

(Core is what RAM was called back when it actually consisted of metal ferrite cores or rings.)

It's a GREAT game to play on paper, but the only REALLY good client I ever saw for it was on the old Mac+. Maybe someone has written a good one for Windows, though.

                        Gurm - well, that's not a problem.
vMac or Basilisk II will do I guess...

Gurm, thanks to have explained it :-)
About the clients, a few years ago I searched for clients and found a lots for a lots of OS (even Amiga).

However, I don't think we need "client". The classic Core Wars tournament is usually so:
                          1) One PC has the main Core War program.
                          2) Each player writes its own proggy
                          3) The proggy are given to the central PC owner
                          4) The central PC start the wars and after a few days it gives out the winner.

So, we only need someone offering a PC to host the tournament
Sat on a pile of deads, I enjoy my oysters.

I'll host. There are several good clients out there. Lemme pull 'em down and play with 'em, and we can all get started churning out REDCODE.
