I've hear that Rt2000 will match

Dunno about price drops. I know it's available for about $100 less than the list price some places.

The thing I DO know is that the DV500 is no where close to the RT-2000 in quality or realtime capability. A quick side-by-side proves that in short order.

Another thing to think about is updates and new features. When the RT-2000 2.0 drivers come out it will take another quantum leap, making the DV500 look very, very lame by comparison.

    This guy has it pretty close;

I love mine and would highly recommend stretching the budget a tad to get one. It really is that good.

If they start selling the RT-2000 for around a kilobuck and then bring out the 2.0 driver update it'll be murder on the other cards in that price range.

I can tell you for certain that the quality, variety and number of new effects, new features and improvements in performance are just flat awesome.

        Pinnacle who??

I have been thinking about the possibility of getting a RT2000 for
some time. My *initial* feature requirements are actually pretty
simple in some ways and only a small sub-set of the full capabilities
          of the RT2000.

Basically, what I want to do is digital video subtitling. I'm writing
my own subtitling software which'll just create some output images
(one per subtitle line basically) and a 'do this image at this place
at this time' list in a file.

Now, I need to both capture the sound and video (simple), but also
need a video editing program that can take a list of images to overlay
(with alpha transparency). I looked at the software that comes with
the RT2000 a long time ago, and I think it could be done in theory,
but I was worried about the file format for the image playlist - I
don't want to enter in 1000 lines by hand. This means that I either
need to be able to import a text list into the video editing program,
or get the file format for it... If I can't do this with the supplied
software, I can do the overlay part in custom software so long as I
can capture the video+audio raw and in a standard format.

For exporting, SVHS output is a start, and being able to write DVDs
will be handy in the future. I'm quite happy to spend good money on
good quality - I *do* want good image (and sound) quality. I know the
RT2000 has lots of other funky features, and I'll probably use them
eventually. I also want to run it under Windows 2000 and a reliable
and trouble free solution. (having the graphics card and video card
          together does help reduce problems...)

In terms of minimum features, I could just do this with my G200
Marvel, but I basically want better quality...

I second Doc's opinion, the RT2000 rocks, and now with an official price drop, there's no other card like it in the market.
Matrox of coarse will continue to enhance it's features set, killing the competition big time.

              I love my RT2000!

              Regards,
              Elie
