  • Banding parhelia

Just a question, is the banding problem still present in cards that you would buy today? As there seems to be less posts about it. Or have people just learned to live with it???

Matrox haven't come up with any solutions yet AFAIK.

thanks for the quick reply. Guess i'll have to wait a little longer. Before I splash out, and aquire a taste for older games

Maybe the state of the stock market is severly affecting matrox's decisions, is all their money going into employee pension schemes?

Is that definate? Has anyone bought a Parhelia recently?

Matrox have no solutions for existing owners, but perhaps they might have made some minor revisions to lessen the effect.

Holding out hope that they have sneaked out the Parhelia 1.1...

yeah they must have revised loads of boards in the past and not publically announced it. My G200 for example. They have revision numbers in the corner of the boards don't they like A0 etc..

We got five Parhelia 128Mb Retail cards at work today, and I have checked three og them, and I can't se any banding on any of those cards.

But I got the Parhelia in my home computer in August, one of the first boards that appeard in Norway, and I have no banding at home either!

Raptor are there any board revision numbers on your parhelias at work that don't display the banding, we could try and find out whether it was a large batch problem suppose a trend in serial numbers would prove that.

I'm not shure if I can gice you any serial numbers, it's REV A on the boards, havent looked on the GPU's. The company we buy hardware from had just got them in a delivery from Matrox Europe the 27th of January.

No board revision is going to fix it.
It is going to take a chip revision, and that isn't going to happen until they unload the current stock of chips they have.
