    hey buds...

well to cut a long story short my g'friend spilt alcohol all over my laptop, and well it boots up and all but keyboard is stuffed. tried opening the laptop up but couldnt get it all the way open to get to the mess...

just wondering if anybody at all new how to open up a toshiba satellite to get to the spill...

it is a toshiba satellite 3014xdvd...

i'm really at a loss here because i just bought a tungsten palm pda and when i had the laptop accident my palm locked up and had to be wiped, and i had backed up my palm on the laptop... yeah what luck...

i know the hdd still works in the laptop... so i can still get the data... just a lot of mucking around

if anyone can tell me how to open up the laptop i would appreciate it greatly!

    thanks guys and girls

I too have similar experience, search on google there is a site with pics on opening a satellite (old model though). IIRC you need you apply force to open it up.

    Moreover, use a hairdryer.

      thanks for replying WyWyWy...

i will have a look and see what i can find, and i did get to the stage where if i apply any more force to open it up... the laptop will break in half...

and the alcohol had some syrup or something sticky in it and wont dry up... so i outta luck there...

      thanks...

put it in the airing cupboard (where your hot water boiler is).
I had a mobile phone that went into a pint of beer and through a washing machine.
It dried out fine every time

Last time I open up a satellite pro I almost broke it.
Yes it is very hard to open up... check for those "hidden screws".

            EDIT:
No wait... IIRC you have to open the keyboard before opening the base!

just wondering who has ever lost and backup of a backup of a backup??? i must be pretty damn unlucky...

cause i had all my addresses and phone listing in my phone... which i had backup up on my palm... which i had backup up on my computer... my phone stuffed up on me (needs a firmware update), palm tungsten kept resetting, had to delete everything to get it to work, and the laptop incident... all within the week were lost! i guess its just a bad week i had...

ill remeber though in the future to keep a 4th backup...

karma??? i didnt do anything wrong in the past!!! hehe i think...

for that to happen from karma, i would of had to kill someone or something... and i can safely say that that hasn't happened... yet... unless karma can predict the future of me strangling my g'friend... hehe

but yes fate says i should get a brand new laptop in the comming months...
