  • Blank CD locking my sys

nforce2 board, lite on 48x burner, XP SP1, yadda , yadda.

When I put a blank CD in my drive (Imation or Maxell), my system will hard lock. WTF?

Disable the inbuilt CD-RW burning support and see if it fixes it

      Word.

      services.msc /s
and then disable "IMAPI CD-Burning Com Service"?

BTW, i installed forceASPI to see if that would fix it.

I'll try this when I get home tonight. Anyone else have any ideas, just in case?

It sounds like... hrm, could be XP's bizarro auto-detection stuff again. You can turn most of that off using any of a dozen tweakers, and see if it helps.

Turned off autorun and disabled Windows CD burning. No dice. Any ideas?

CK-I hear ya with the ASPI business man. Use FORCEASPI in the future and you'll be golden.

Everyone: Finally figured it out tonight...I updated IDE controller driver to the newest version...AGAINST XP's wishes, and all is well. party on.
