G400 Marvel Audio-In Acts Up??

Is it normal for the audio in/out to only be active after you start video tools?? It seems like I can only ever hear audio out/in after opening VT and going to the TV input. BUT NOW, I can't get any audio in AT ALL!! (Through Line-In.) I've tried messing with everything in Play Control etc, nothing. I recently uninstalled all my matrox stuff and then installed the latest drivers/vid tools. But it WAS working after that. I also tried restarting windows, nothing. Sigh...

Um, nevermind about the input, the problem was that the RECORD control wasn't on line-in. :P But, I am still not sure whether the audio-out is ever active unless I first start Video Tools. I'm currently taping US Nationals Skating so I can't test it right now. I'll check it though, maybe the newer vid tools fixed that...
