  • Dunno is this a good thing or a bad thing.

For the first time in the UK they're more over 50's then under 16 sixteens. So what will this mean in the future.

    1) Bad news for pensions no yougsters to pay for it.
    2) Emptier roads as they'll be less drivers around.
    3) Cheaper housing as they'll be less buyers.
    4) Less tax from cars, cigs, booze so taxes will have to go up.
    5) Lower unemployment.
    6) Other drugs legalized to make up the tax differance.

Okay I'm not totally serious pensions is already a problem.

I'll be translating this for Americans.

For the first time in the USA, there are more people over the age of 65 than under the age of 16. So what will this mean in the future?

Bad news for those of us 16-64, our social security tax will be increasing AGAIN!

    2) Emptier roads as they'll be less drivers around.
Dangerous roads - there will be nobody on them, but when you DO see someone, they are blind, deaf, have the reaction time of a retarded snail, and are going approximately 5 mph in the fast lane.

    3) Cheaper housing as they'll be less buyers.
A glut of row homes demolished to make way for Denny's - with their senior special! House prices will stay the same.

    4) Less tax from cars, cigs, booze so taxes will have to go up.
Taxes will go up - but not because there's less tax income from cars, cigarettes and booze. No, rather it will be because the AARP will use the lobbying power of an unprecedented number of old folks (all too senile to see that the AARP is a bunch of greedy young bastards PRETENDING to care about their elders) to bludgeon Washington into raising our taxes and giving the money directly to them.

    5) Lower unemployment.
Teenagers forced out of jobs at fast food restaurants to make way for Johnny Elderly.

    6) Other drugs legalized to make up the tax differance.
Drugs will never be legalized in the USA. Instead, our incoming and SSI taxes will be raised YET AGAIN. Now they're 60% of our income.

Okay I'm not totally serious pensions is already a problem.
I am DEAD serious. This is a problem in the USA as well, only our solutions are hideous.

          LOL

That's all I've got to add, except to say that the problems here in the US are rooted in more issues than age (not sure off-hand what the age statistics are here).
