  • RAID Cards and Windows XP

I've noticed on my Primary Rig (Promise TX2 Raid X2 WD 60GB 7200rpm HD) that it takes almost an extra 30 seconds for XP to boot up vs my P4 Machine that has a single hard drive in it. Is this normal?
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

I've notice that my TX2 takes a long..... time to get it's act together on start up.
But this is while the computer is booting, before the OS loads.
    My OS is W2K.
I haven't noticed it taking long for the OS to load though, if that's what you are talking about.

I use XP at work and EVERYTHING seems slow on it. (P4 2.5 w/ 512 mb)

Maybe it's a mistake, but I always put on all the updates when they come out.
I realy think McAffee is the main culprit.
Though, I also wonder about the amazingly slow menus.
It has a G450 PCI in it.

Are you booting straight off the RAID array? Wouldn't it be better to have a single HD to boot off of?
