  • Parhelia vs. G400MAX 2D performance?

Can anyone point me to info on the relative performance of the Parhelia vs. the G400MAX in 2D transfer rate? By performance I mean the relative time it takes to, for example, display or manipulate on screen a very large 32-bit graphic.

    Thanks.

Parhelia should do way better, because:

    1) 400MHz DAC vs. 360MHz DAC = things appear faster on screen
    2) 256-bit DDR interface vs. 64-bit DDR interface

      1) The RAMDAC speed is not going to matter. It will allow a higher res/refresh on Parhelia, but when running at the same settings, the RAMDAC would be running at the same clockings on any card.

      2) G400 did not have 64bit DDR, it had a dual 128bit SDR bus. Still, Parhelia has a faster bus (internal and memory), so IF a pic was so big it couldn't fit in P's 128meg, it would be faster loading than a G400.

okay correct me i am wrong but doesn't a faster RAMDAC means data converts from bits to wave/analog signal faster.

o yea. i kept thinking about G550/G450 DDR... forgot G400s have wider bus. but it has a Dual 128bit SDR memory interface? or do you mean 128-bit DualBus for the core?
