  • What is the best motherboard to use for video capture?

I am currently using a FIC KA11 motherboard with built-in creative audio.

The problem I have is that I am dropping heaps of frames when trying to capture using anything but PC-VCR. I think it may be because the motherboard is based on the KIA chipset.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    My system is as follows:
    Intel Pentium III-500Mhz
    256M Ram
    1 x 17G Seagate 5400rpm
    1 x 30G Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm (Capture drive)
    Matrox Marvel G400TV
    DVD/CD-ROM
    CDRW

    Thanks ...

My RT-2000 and Marvel G400 systems are on Asus P3B-F 6/1/1 mainboards and they are all happy beasts. This is one fast and stable board, especially since I updated to the ver. 1006 BIOS.

For slotkeys I'm using the Gigabyte GA-6R7Pro/6R7+ jumperless on all the systems.

The fastest system has the above hardware combined with a PIII/850 CuMine. The rest have PIII/600's and one has a CeleronII/600. All are humming away nicely.

For audio all are using the old SB AWE-64 ISA card with the default drivers installed by the Win98SE CD. This provides 4 connectors: line in, line out, spkr and mic.
