  • Wtf ?!

I've just discovered something reeealy weird on g400 sh 16mb wchich I own...when I "fast drag" an application window in winXP(1024x768@32bit) it uses ~50% of athlonXP 1700, but when I apply just a little alpha blending (this application - foobar2000 - has this setting), so it doesn't look transparent at all, it uses virtually no cpu while fast dragging! If I'm lucky that is...it works always when I've got 1024x768@16bit or 800x600@32bit (and lower ofcoz), but in my main resolution - not always (dragging is then not smooth and cpu usage ->100%)...
Pretty interesting, huh? Gues it's some kind of hardware acceleration (overlay maybe? - because when I drag alpha blended window (the one that doesn't use cpu that is ) it is almost the same quality as normal; except that the "application picture" lags behind window containing this application by 1-2 pixels, just like overlayed video in a window.

Too bad that 16 mb on mine g400 probably is responsible for this not always working in 1024x768@32bit...

P.S. But my buddies with radeon 9000 & gf2mx400 can once again come to me, and drop their jaws after seeing that dragging "normal" (non-transparent looking that is) windows doesn't use cpu on g400

P.S.2 Who would thought that even now something about mine 2,5 year old g400 (wchich I'm planning to replace soon...) will amase me...
