  • Atari800 in linux, with Joystick support

How do you get joystick support to work with Atari800 emulator. Or has anyone gotten Karateka to work with the keyboard in Atari800. I can kick/punch using the proper keys (q,a,z for punches and w,s,x for kicks) but I can't move with the arrow keys, or any keys for that matter.

What can I say, I was bored and wanted to play it!

Ok, so I've never used an Atari800. How do you start the game?

BTW. The emulator find my joystick.

how did you get it to find the joystick? Basically with this emulator you just have unzip the image so it's Karateka.atr and then inside the emulator press F1 and it'll bring up a menu, then you insert the virtual disk there, and then do a cold start of it, and it should auto-load the game.

Is the emulator the only application in which your joystick doesn't work? Does it find your joystick at all when you start it?

Just tried Karateka and it works fine with my joystick. The little man runs (walks, rather ) around kikking and punching just fine.

well, the jscalibrator package finds it just fine, so I know it's actually working and being detected. It could be that it's because it's an analog joystick, and the Atari800 emulator might require a digital one. But even then, I should be able to get the guy to move with the keyboard (if you press K you should hear a BONG sound, then you can punch/kick with the keys I said earlier, but I couldn't get him to move.)
