  • G200 Marvel codec

    The G200 Marvel uses a hardware based proprietary Matrox codec to create avi files. Is there an installable codec that will allow me to play and edit Marvel G200 recorded avi files on another computer.
    thanks

    the Morgan codec works great from my experience. I believe there is another popular one but I can't think of it at the moment.

      The PICVideo MJPeg codec is excellent and IMHO faster than Morgan. It offers 20 levels of compresion of which #19 is about the same as Matrox's codec. Level 20 is of much higher quality and for most purposes is virtually lossless.

      $18 for non-commercial users;

        The Morgan codec is less good, more expensive and with more bugs than the PICvideo one.

          Morgan is spraying its components over your whole system. Difficult to uninstall.
          PICVideo is fine but unable to display the scrubbed timeline from the MSP 6/6.5 on TV in WinXP (DVDmax enabled)
          The PICV quality is much higher than Morgan.
          I am using only PICVideo to capture with the setting as Doc suggested.
