  • Adult game on PS2/GC/XBox!?

Just saw an adult game, BMX XXX, for PS2/GC/XBox...

    How is that possible?!
Sony and Nintendo won't licence adult games and they need a licence to sell the game! (Not sure about Microsoft)

IIRC, adult games were one of they reason some people went for Sega Saturn instead of PS1 in 95/96/97....

    uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Sony has not really cared that much about this sort of thing, if i understand correctly. Last i checked the game was also only for the PS2.

never heard anything about adult games being a reason people went with the saturn instead of the SP1... i thought it was commonly credited to Sega's badass arcade games they ported...

and 'how' is it possible? how can movie producers make crap like Showgirls?

No but Sony has publicly said that they won't allow adult (nudity, swearing and even the concept) on their "family" console... IIRC two japanese game makers are sued by Sony years ago because they were pushing the limit...

And... the first year of Saturn allowed adult game until Sega realised the damage. Much like the Hudson PC-Engine, they can only make it to the geeks not the families...

Well, since it got a PS2 liscense, i am gonna go out on a limb and say that sony chose to give the game it despite the content. If sony cared that much, the PS2 wouldn't be able to play DVD's.

Nintendo has been changing whats allowed as of recent. I do believe they would have issues with this sort of game. but who knows.

Microsoft... eh, Microsoft i doubt cares....

and yes the game looked horrid...

Well, IIRC the PS2 version will NOT have nudity, whereas the XBox and GC will.

But it's a TERRIBLE game. Even if there were such a thing as a GOOD BMX game, this one wouldn't be.

I mean, does anyone over the age of 15 buy a game because of titites? I mean, honestly. You have a computer, the Internet, and 5 minutes to kill and you can find LOTS of titties.

Actually there is such a thing as a good BMX game, Dave Mira's was great, music and gameplay were imo top-notch.

Actually, the ESRB gave BMX XXX an "M" mature rating. It didn't have an adult rating.

It is my understanding that Sony forced the publisher of this title to remove the nudity from the PS2 version of the game, eventhough it only received an "M" rating.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Dave Mira dropped his name from this title as he didn't want to be associated with it due to the nudity. It was orginally going to be called "Dave Mira's Pro BMX XXX".

                  Go figure.

There is some talk that the ESRB migth alter their rating system at some point in the future.

                      Guys,
XXX has been edited before it's release in the US, there will no longer be any nudity as there were to many complaints. Though the game will contain nudity for everyone else ie Rest of the World!

Sony didn't force it not to have nutidy. Acclaim was responding to the pressure that retail stores were putting on them.

Evidentally companies do not have a problem featuring movies with topless scenes, but do have a problem with video games that feature the same things.

I don't see the problem behind X-rated games. You just have to be sure to label it correctly and sell it to the appropriate audience. If it's rated "mature" then don't sell it to kids.

X-Rated games have ALWAYS sold poorly.

Even "strong content" games like Phantasmagoria raised quite a stink.

Yes, society has bizarre notions. It's ok to see movies with violence, killing, etc. - but not to play video games with the same content (hello Germany!). It's ok to see movies that come THIS CLOSE to being hardcore porn, but not ok to see titties in video games.

                              I hate people.
