  • The video source is unstable or video standard is not correctly set

I use a MARVEL 400 TV with VT 02.02.17. When I try to capture video from the TV port I get this message from VirtualDub and Video Studio 5.0 SE. The Matrox VCR Software has no problem to capture under MJPEG.

Does any one know this problem and has a solution?

    Thanks in advance, Misterx

Have you try to set correctly the options about codification?

    like PAL SECAM NTSC ecc.

Thanks for this hint. I double checked all settings, but I made no mistake. The picture at the Monitor is just fine.

I may have to tell you that I use an analog sat receiver and that I have connected the receiver via the TVin.

The Marvel & eTV can be a tad sensitive to a weak input signal so you might want to see if putting a small video amp inline with it will help.

Even some SVHS decks passthrough will boost it enough, plus many such decks will restore the synch pulses (built-in time base corrector: TBC), which is something else the Marvels (and most other analog capture cards) don't like.

It could be your satellite receiver has degraded synch pulses on purpose since this is often used as a cheap method of copy protection.
