  • IDE-RAID on Tech-Report

Here is a nice roundup of IDE-RAID cards. I've now confirmed that I'll be getting a 3ware 7500 soon.

by what I saw in there the 3Com is the slowest one.
Anyway I have a "software controlled" Adaptec 1200A and it's quite efficient and the CPU time taken is at about 5% in a Raid0 configuration

It (3Ware) was slowest in some areas, but faster in others. It has stellar read times. And it supports RAID 10.

Not very informative on streaming sequential writes & reads, which is the most important for those doing video. Most RAID5's can only muster about what a single HDD can do regarless of how many drives are in the array. My SX4000 RAID5 delivers well over 90 mb/s consistantly on both sequential reads and writes.

If I remember correctly there is somekind of RAID bug in XP that affects performance.....

And they used that OS as test plattform....
