  • Problems with scrup and msp 6.0 ?

    Sorry if i am asking a dumb question, but i am new to marvel g400/msp 6.0.
    When i load an avi on the timeline and try to scrup it the mouse freezes for about 5 sec., a green flash apears in the preview window, and now i can scrup all over the timeline. Is there some setting i have overlooked ?

    First make a backup copy of your ulead32.ini. (in your windows dir). Then open the original and edit the following in notepad under the Hardware acc.

    [HardwareAcc]
    AviPlayEngineMCI=1
    HwCodecID=dmb1
    ;AlwaysKeepLastFrame=1
    DisableAcc1=0
    ;RecompressWhenScrubbing=1
    DirectAccessDVAudio=1

    If you get multiple file playback error edit:

    ;PlayDll(?#?)=C:\Program Files\Matrox Video Tools\MCLPlugin.dll

    The results should make you quite happy. If not replace it with the your backup.

        What is your source file type and what are your project settings? Try the smart check and convert under file and see what it says needs to be changed. If you are using Matrox MJPEG, make sure that the clip fps and the project settings are the same and resolution (of course). Actually try to make sure that all of the settings are the same so that smart render works and it won't have to recompress anything. Other than that I don't know, unless it is a TV output setting or Dual-head DVDMAX thing.

          Load up another MJPEG clip in Media Player before you start working in MSP. Media Player will take over the hardware and eliminate the delay.

            This may not be the only problem in that ulead32.ini file but....

            Your [Playback] section reads;

            [Playback]
            RenderAudio=0
            ;PlayDll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\MCLPlugin.dll
            PlayDll7=U32mpb.dll
            PlayDll8=U32mpbm.dll
            PlayDll9=Upbplug2.dll
            PlayDll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\MCLPlugin.dll

            Note that the line:

            Playdll1=C:\PROGRA~1\MATROX~1\MCLPlugin.dll

            appears twice, but is only disabled by using a preceding semicolon once.

            I'd delete the second instance of this line for starters.

              The solution by fluggo99 also eliminates the flickering and "jumping images" in the preview, when I'm using the new MSP6 patch II and DV-audio settings.
              With PCM audio the preview is normal.
              I wonder why?

                Thanks for the answers. I have tried it all now, and the only thing that helps is to use the method by fluggo99, but it takes about as much time as waiting for the scrup to get ready in msp 6.0.
                If you have some more tweaks to the ulead32.ini, please let me know.
                I also noticed that starting up avi i/o takes about 10 sec.
                Strange, in a other system i use with a dc10+ ,avi i/o just jumps up right away.
                Is that normal ?

                  Yes. The Matrox video drivers take a few seconds to load. You'll also see this when generating a preview in MSPro.
