Anyone who knows me knows the answer: The Matrix.

How many times? I haven't counted but the DVD is getting grooves burned in it

Well, I only have 2 so far... The Matrix and Run Lola Run
(,,Lola Rennt`` fuer unser deutscher Freunden). Both are great.
RE Beatles: I just read where Help is being released in DVD,
but where's A Hard Day's Night, arguably one of the best
          rock'n'roll movies ever?
I got Yellow Submarine on VHS last Xmas, and the Hifi sound
is great, DVD must be fantastic.
Great idea on Private Ryan, I may treat myself to that one
          just for the sound.

            Oh YEAH!! RUN LOLA RUN!!

I saw that for the first time on cable last week and was blown away by it. I saw it at Media Play for $14 and will probably get it this weekend.

The Mummy is a good one too. The wife thinks Brendon Frasier could be the next Harrison Ford if he plays it right. I think he needs to get that "do it and die!" stare of HF's to add credibility to his serious scenes.

              Frankie G:
A Hard Day's Night is one of the VERY annoying cases. It WAS released on DVD, and if you were lucky enough to grab it while it was out, it was/is a pretty decent DVD. (not much suplimental material, but an immaculate image and decent stereo soundtrack) Unfortunatly, they planned to rerelease it to theaters (don't know if they actually did) and they planned to reissue it after the run, so they took the existing release out of print. The problem has been they have a set amount of Beatles discs they will introduce onto the market at any time, and discs like Yellow Submarine and the making of Imagine disc have bumped the reissue of A Hard Day's Night back and back. In terms of the movie, I do agree A Hard Day's Night is the better film (one of my all time favs), but the DVD isn't as spectacular as Yellow Submarine. Anyways, if you look around e-bay I've heard that the old AHDN disc usually runs for $100 or so. I'd probably wait for the new issue unless you MUST have it. (luckily for me, I picked it up while it was in print.... even for a Beatles fanatic like me, $100 is too steep)
Incidently: the following (major) Beatles movies are already out:
Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, and Yellow Submarine though I'd suggest skipping Magical Mystery Tour. The I Am The Walrus sequence is brilliant, but the rest of the film is very unfocused and the DVD image is the worst I've EVER seen in a commercial release (in stark constrast to the other Beatles films on DVD) Beatles First US Visit is also out, but I don't consider that a major release. Let it Be was remastered recently so that should get out before too long, and AHDN should be reissued sooner or later.

I think you are missing one very important film.

Uhhh....the original version of Dune suxs major if you've ever read the novels. It was poorly cut by the editors and suffered wooden or over acting in critical characters. The uncut version that sometimes makes it to the Sci-Fi channel is better, but still deems no cigar because of the other problems. Also the first movie was far too limited in its scope and didn't explain things well, if at all.

One example is Princess Irulan, the daughter of the Emperor. Ever wonder what she's doing in there? Start reading

There is a new "Frank Herbert's Dune" movie, actually a 6 hour miniseries, coming to the Sci-Fi channel in December. This time they ARE following the book. There is also some rumbling that it will be released on DVD later on.

                      You might want to check this site;

Yellow Submarine... I've probably watched it 5 times on DVD (countless times on an old VHS dub of a TV broadcast from the 80s), and listened to it's music only mode another 7 times. AMAZING disc! And the Beatles tracks remixed for 5.1 are beyond what I could have ever hoped for. (not to mention jaw-dropping picture quality)

                          Well being British

For story line and laughs it has to be Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, must have watched it 10 times

However for visuals and sound both The Matrix and The Mummy take some beating, excellent replay value.

Unexpected purchase that I enjoyed - "The Iron Giant"

Title of the absolute worst DVD I've bought goes to "The Mystery Men" what a complete waste of talent.

When X-Men becomes available on DVD, I'll be buying the first copy released!!!!
                            I really enjoyed the movie

Also Star Wars 1 should be released soon, George Lucas finally decided to put the movie on DVD, but not the rest for some reason.

                            Cheers,
