Not sure waht to make of this.

Perhaps MSDV vs Main Concept DV codec is part of the equation.

But my test clip was free of pulsating artifacts when encoded in MSP6.52 at 6000 VBR. Unfortunately the artifacts were as bad as ever at 4000 VBR. Same clip encoded in Vegas Video 3 at 4000 VBR doesn't have these pulsating artifacts!

I'm viewing the four clips played back in media player using the DVDmax feature of my G450 on a 14" NTSC monitor.

        --wally.

PS it appears that powerpatch2_E doesn't have everything that was in powerpatch_E, meaning I had to install powerpatch_E first and then powerpatch2_E to get mpeg encoding to work.

          Wally,

Are you saying that the new patch doesn't fix the pulsating when using VBR of 4000?

I'm currently testing with a 2 hour DV file @ 5575 so I won't know the results for awhile.

Yes, it didn't seem to fix the problem at 4000 VBR. 6000 VBR looked good, whereas before it didn't.
