  • What's the slowest Radeon 64MB DDR?

Someone's been asking me about a system quote they had.

It's an AMD 2000MHz processor to begin with - is there even a 2000MHz chip? I'm making a fair guess it's a 2000+, but wondering if it's a possibility. They also list 512MB RAM, any chance this could be SDR?

And finally, the main issue...(well, not really, but I just thought of the Radeon), they have a Radeon 64MB DDR. What could this be, and how does it fare speedwise?

    Thanks,

    P.

    The XP2400+ runs at 2Ghz

Radeon DDR ... slower than a 7500 (which is a Radeon on steroids).
      no matrox, no matroxusers.

If it's an ATI retail Radeon64MB DDR, it runs at 183/183MHz (synchronous core/Ram operation), at least my Radeon64MB DDR VIVO did (a very fine card, btw with crisp 2D).
The OEM versions of the RadeonDDR were supposed to run at 166/166MHz, but you NEVER can be sure if there was not one crappy el-cheapo manufacturer (PowerColor, anyone?) using some much lower setting with ATI chips that failed the tests to be used on ATIs own cards. So you have to use e.g. PowerStrip to read it out and/or specifically ask for the clockspeeds.

Ok, thanks Taz, off to check pricing on that

So, it's an original Radeon? I thought they stopped at 32MB, ah well

And finally, can a 2000+/2400+ be run with SDR RAM?

          Thanks guys,

          P.

Ok. It's listed as an Asus motherboard, so I guess they've got a stock of old boards and SDRAM to get rid of.

              Thanks again.

nah its got no soul the radeon was the ONLY card produced by ati with that quality, matrox millenium millenium 2, and g400max share it, as do the canupus 6 meg voodoos, and some number nine cards too, not to mention the colosus voodoo 5 6000.

The Radeon 64MB VIVO really was a sweet card. Majorly been the reason to keep me with ATI until now and only a very slight step back in 2D against my G400.
But then the R9700Pro sure is an impressive card as well. If I had to rate, I'd rate the 8500 a bit lower because of some problems with TVOut quality and only medicore 2D.
