  • Where's the overlay gone?

I have the latest drivers installed, and my setup now includes two 21 inch monitors and a TV. The problem I have is that there is no video overlay on the secondary monitor. The DVD playback works fine on the TV, and on the monitor connected to the main connector, it's the other one that doesn't work (and didn't work before I connected the TV either) It could have started doing this after I upgraded to the new drivers, but I'm not sure. I know I was showing the difference between strechted and independant display to a friend, and I now have stretched+feature set up. Any ideas? Is the overlay disabled on the second head in the new drivers?

Bastards, always one step behind.... So why was it working before in the earlier drivers?

It is a trade-off. To get DVDMax and TV support in triplehead, they had to disable overlay on the secondary/tertiary displays.
With earlier drivers, you could not run 2 displays+TV, or get DVDMax with triplehead.

            Not with the current drivers.
Hopefully it can be re-enabled in a future set.

So it should be re-enableable...so Matrox SHOULD reenable it....

It's not as simple as just re-enabling.
It was disabled so that the additional features could be implimented.
At this time, there is no way to have both enabled.
They will either need to figure out a way to allow both to work at once, or add an option to PD-HF to enable one or the other.

I've got a somewhat easy implementation --- software overlay.

I hope 1.03 really is coming soon.

                    Not so easy.
They where already using a software overlay in triplehead mode.
And early beta versions of 1.03 don't fix it.

Overlay switch in PowerDesk for users to switch between hardware overlay and blit
That's in the release notes. Where is this? I looked all last night for it through every Powerdesk option there was.

in the video playback option, the most upper check box "use video overlay" ...

unchecking that option will disable overlay (and hence DVD Max) and make the card use blitting instead

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if you have a dual monitor setup, the latest drivers disable the hardware overlay on the 2nd screen ? Just like the old G400, right ?
If it is true, too bad, I wanted a Parhelia mainly for this feature...
What is Matrox doing ? Wasn't the fact that you had exactly the same capabilities on both screen one of their selling point ?

feel yourself corrected, because you're wrong ...

In a plain DH setup you have HW overlay on both outputs.

They were talking about DH + feature display.

I've got a plain ole DH setup, XP independent res, and can only get overlay on the primary. How do I get rid of the "features", the modes available to me all have "features"
