  • NT DMA/66 or even DMA/100?

    Hi,
The project I'm working on for my job has NT 4 (service pack 6) and an IBM DMA/100 30GB HD. We were wondering how fast NT can access the HD....66MB/sec or close to 100MB/sec???? I would appreciate that alot! =) (of course, the motherboard supports DMA 100)

    Yeast,

for as far as I know, the speed increase one (might) get from this higher speed, is not that directly related to the OS. Spindle speed of the drive and platter capacity (density) are more important. If the drive itself isn't able to read faster then let's say 20MB/s, a 100MB/s bus isn't giving you the expected datarate. This is especially the case with NLE. Maybe you can find more information on:
    www.storagereview.com

I find it a really interesting site.

    Happy editing.

What I'm saying is whether NT supports DMA66 or 66mb/sec. All my hardware *is* supporting that.
