  • Overvolting your Northwood might kill it

There's a thread over at the Overclockers Forums about Northwoods experiencing sudden death if put at a too high voltage or dieing after running at high voltages for prolonged periodes of time.
You seem to be most at risk if you volt moded it by tempering with the pins but not moded CPUs are at risk also.

Seems kinda common sense that it would kill the CPU if you overvolted it...

as the process shrinks they become far more fagile than yesterdays CPU's.

Been running my overclocked slot Cumine at 1.9v for almost 2 years now, then again it's a 0.18 process.
It's a cB0 stepping with a stock voltage of 1.65 but even Intel felt the need to up the voltage to 1.75 starting with the cC0 stepping.

Most of the P4's burning up have had the Vid-Mod wire pin wrap mod done to them.... Not recommended at all!!!!
