• Need a Freeware HD Imaging Tool

Ok, my boss wants me to create a standard image file we can use to install on all of our comps here at work. We don't have any imaging tool, and he told me I couldn't crack any software as we could get in trouble for it. So I was wondering if there was a HD image tool out there that was freeware and would make a self extractable and bootable image of a HD. I've been looking everywhere with no avail. Any info would be appreciated.

Can't you just buy Norton Ghost? It's not that expensive...

Well, he doesn't want to buy anything, and I sure the hell am not buying it for him. *shrugs* I found a lot of good freeware programs, but none of them do everything that I need them to do. Still looking....if anyone happens to come across one please let me know, thanks.

Get a Linux boot floppy. dd can be used to move images around.

BuddMan - does your boss pay for your time? 'Cos the cost of Ghost is probably less that the (opportunity) cost of you searching for a freeware version, and then getting it to work once/if you find it!

Yeah, it's ridiculous, but I'm not gonna argue with him. Thanks for the link Dilitante. I won't be able to test it out till Monday, but I'm pretty sure the clone program will do what I need it to do.

Doesnt DOS XCOPY do that if you want to be cheap.

I dont know what the problem with GHOST is, it comes free on most motherboard driver CDs.

Go through your CDs, you might just have a copy of it lying around anyway.
