  • Parhelia vs. Gainward GF4 4600Ti

I want to run two Viewsonic VX-2000 LCD's at 1600x1200 Digitally.
Which video card is better for me:
Matrox Parhelia or Gainward GF4 4600Ti?
    Or,
do you have any other suggestions?

Three is better and BIGGER than one!

In bed as well (so I'm told).

Depends on what you want to do and what you expect from the card you want....
    Specs:
    MSI 745 Ultra :: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ :: 1024 MB PC-266 DDR-RAM :: HIS Radeon 9700 (Catalyst 3.1) :: Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 :: Pioneer DVD-106S :: Western Digital WD800BB :: IBM IC35L040AVVN07

I do Web Design and I trade stocks. I want the best image I can get with LCD's.

do you play games? if not how could you even consider the gainward
if yes, things are a bit more complicated.
        no matrox, no matroxusers.

          'complicated' - hmm!

A GF4/4600 is quite a bit cheaper, runs faster and with DVI seems to give as good as image as Parhelia (subjectively with the eyes - assuming you've not got a scope for testing!).

I reckon as you're looking at the Gainward then there's a possibility some games may become involved...
          Cheers, Reckless

            Lewis,

Whatever works bro! The Gainward has a red PCB so when you let me put a window in the side of your case, it will look SCHAWEET!

              Reckless,

He'll need to run the games at 1600x1200, so I'm even thinking once a dual-DVI Radeon 9700 becomes available (the workstation version may have it)... AND MOST IMPORTATNLY, ITS PCB IS RED!!!!

I thought 800x600 would scale well, but it just looks yucky.

              Damn these LCDs to HELL!

A red PCB is fairly unimportant, also it depends on the person if he likes the color, personally I prefer the good old green styled cards.

Anyways, I think with doing web-design and trade stock, even tripplehead might be interesting, wouldn't it?

How can you say the color of the PCB is unimportant?

Look at how ATI got the .15 micron R300 to run at uber clock speeds on red.

Rumor has it the NV30 will be on an orange PCB.

                  :P
