  • G450 PCI, good buy?

    Hi all!

Recently found out that G450 PCI is now selling for 20pounds only, about US$30.

Is that a good buy? Or may be the Millennium II is sufficient enough?

Also, on Matrox website, there are some concerns about G450 PCI on non-Intel chipse boards. Now I run a SiS645 board, will there be any problem or is that Matrox statment just against VIA?

    Thanks.

    EDIT:
Will lewwwis go nuts because he just bought it for $100? hehehe...

      99.99% of second-hand hardware sites.

      EDIT:
Remember we are talking about 16mb SDRAM PCI version... not 32mb AGP DDR, not eTV...

        But SH or DH?

Computer Exchange offered me about 30 quid for an 16Mb OEM AGP one recently - but a PCI version could be usefull...

I'll have a look. By the way I still have that AGP one hanging around somewhere if you are interested...

          DH.

I'm thinking of buying this G450 PCI to power my 2nd monitor and hopefully the TV. Then get a slightly more powerful card for primary (may be VE or 7500), and, may be my 3rd monitor too...

          My G400 is dying

How much are going to sell me for? You know Aria is doing G400MAX for 29 quid...

On non-intel chipset boards, all extended DualHead functions are disabled (DVDmax etc.)
            main system: P4 Northwood 2.0 @ 2.5GHz, Asus P4PE (LAN + Audio onboard), 512MB Infineon PC333 CL2.5, Sapphire/BBA Radeon 9500@9700 128MB (hardmodded), IBM 100GB ATA-100, 17" Belinea (crappy), and some other toys...ADSL (1,5mbit/s down, 256kbit/s up...sweeeeeet!)

Well, I was going to (if I ever got round to it...) either:

              a) put it in another box. But I can't, as the targetted box is an annoying CTX (?) case which needs a notch taken out of the AGP card. Hence a PCI one might be of interest. But not right now, as my brother has it.

              b) sell for as much as I could get from a mug that I don't know (e.g. CeX on Tott Crt Rd for 29ish quid)

              c) come to an "arrangement" with someone I do know.

Being a MURCer, you would count as a (c) I suppose. But an important caveat here - I can't be arsed to post the thing, and so London only I am afraid... ( I am lazy )
