  • Parhelia Vs RT X series

I remember back in the marvel days the top matrox card had a Video partner, eg,
Millenium G400 and the marvel G400,

does the parhelia have the same, (and is it the RT x.100).

On a side note, how does the RT X.100 compare gaming wise to the parhelia?

    Cheers,
    Colin

I think your getting a few things mixed up.

The RT.X10 & RT.X100 are video capture boards only.

They do not and can not (correct me if I'm wrong) act as stand alone video cards.

The Parhelia is a video card, and will not, can not act as a video capture card.

Now put the two together and I hear that they make LOVELY music together

I think some people are insinuating that sooner or later there will be a Marvel 400 equivalent card coming from MGA (Matrox Graphics).

But till then, its just a rumor

    Hope this clears things up

    edit : fixed a few typo's

Matrox have denied they will be making a consumer video Marvel type product ever again.

However, the Parhelia and either X10 or X100 will be a good combo. As noted, the RT X-series rely on you having a separate graphics card. They also utilise the CPU power for simple effects - so get a nice fast CPU to be part of that. Although this combo is much more expensive than the previous Marvels.

Check the DV forum for more.

Matrox killed off their Marvel lines as a cost saving measure since they didnt do all that well sales wise anyway and I would venture to say they took away from develping better Pro models that they do a good busniess in !
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?
